Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground chicken
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 0.5 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 0.5 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • to taste salt and pepper
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • optional fresh basil leaves for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground chicken, ricotta cheese, grated Parmesan, breadcrumbs, egg, minced garlic, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined; be careful not to overmix.
  3. Using your hands, shape the mixture into meatballs approximately the size of a golf ball or about 1.5 inches in diameter. Place them on the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between each meatball.
  4. Bake the meatballs in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until they are golden brown and cooked through.
  5. While the meatballs are baking, warm the marinara sauce in a saucepan over low heat. Once the meatballs are done, add them to the sauce and simmer for an additional 5 minutes to let the flavors meld.
  6. Serve the meatballs over your favorite pasta or on their own, spooning extra marinara sauce over the top.

💡 Chef's Notes

Garnish with fresh basil leaves and a sprinkle of parmesan cheese before serving for a lovely touch. Serve on a wooden platter or individual pasta bowls for an inviting presentation.
