Bang Bang Shrimp Flavorful Recipe to Impress Friends
Ingredients
- 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
- 0.5 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
- as needed oil for frying
- 0.5 cup mayonnaise
- 2 tablespoons sweet chili sauce
- 1 tablespoon sriracha
- 1 teaspoon lime juice
- 1 teaspoon honey
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, mix the shrimp with buttermilk and let it marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes (up to 2 hours) for tenderness.
- In a shallow dish, combine flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and cayenne pepper. Mix well.
- In another shallow dish, place the panko breadcrumbs. This will be used for the final coating.
- After marinating, remove shrimp from the buttermilk, letting excess drip off. Dredge each shrimp in the flour mixture, then dip again in buttermilk, and finally coat with panko breadcrumbs. Make sure each shrimp is evenly covered.
- In a deep skillet or frying pan, heat oil over medium-high heat (about 350°F). Fry the shrimp in batches for 2-3 minutes, turning halfway, until golden brown and crispy. Remove and place on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
- In a small bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, sweet chili sauce, sriracha, lime juice, and honey until smooth and well combined. Adjust the spice level according to preference.
- In a serving bowl, toss the fried shrimp with the bang bang sauce until well coated. Alternatively, drizzle the sauce over the shrimp for a visually appealing presentation.
