Beefy Meatball Sub Irresistible and Hearty Delight
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 0.5 cup breadcrumbs
- 0.25 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 large egg
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
- to taste salt and pepper
- 1 jar (24 oz) marinara sauce
- 4 sub rolls
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- for garnish fresh basil leaves
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, egg, minced garlic, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
- Shape the beef mixture into meatballs, about 1.5 inches in diameter.
- In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the meatballs on all sides, about 5 minutes.
- Pour the marinara sauce over the meatballs in the skillet. Cover and simmer for 15 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
- While the meatballs are simmering, split sub rolls and place them on a baking sheet.
- Once the meatballs are cooked through, use a slotted spoon to place several meatballs in each sub roll. Spoon some of the marinara sauce over the top.
- Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese over the meatballs in each sub roll.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Once done, remove from the oven and let cool slightly. Garnish with fresh basil leaves before serving.
💡 Chef's Notes
Serve on a wooden board lined with parchment paper and sprinkle extra basil for color. You can also accompany it with a side of potato chips or a small salad for a complete meal.
