Best Homemade Cinnamon Rolls Cozy Delight Recipe
Ingredients
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup warm milk (110°F)
- 0.5 cup granulated sugar
- 0.25 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 2 large eggs
- 1 packet active dry yeast (2 1/4 tsp)
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- 0.5 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1 cup powdered sugar (for icing)
- 2 tablespoons cream cheese, softened (for icing)
- 2 tablespoons milk (for icing)
- 0.5 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- In a small bowl, mix the warm milk, a pinch of sugar, and yeast. Allow it to sit for about 5-7 minutes until frothy.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine 2 cups of flour, sugar, and salt. Create a well in the center and add the yeast mixture, melted butter, and eggs. Gradually mix in the remaining flour, incorporating it until a soft dough forms.
- Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes, adding more flour as needed until the dough is smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean cloth, and let it rise in a warm area for about 1 hour or until it doubles in size.
- In a small bowl, mix together brown sugar, cinnamon, and a pinch of salt. Set aside.
- Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a floured surface into a rectangle (about 16 x 24 inches) with the long side facing you.
- Brush the rolled-out dough with melted butter, then evenly sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture over the top, leaving a small border around the edges.
- Starting from the long end, carefully roll the dough tightly into a log. Slice the log into 12 equal pieces.
- Place the rolls in a greased baking dish, cover with a cloth, and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) during the last 10 minutes of the second rise.
- Bake the rolls in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
- While the rolls are baking, mix together the powdered sugar, softened cream cheese, milk, and vanilla extract in a small bowl until smooth.
- Once the rolls are out of the oven and still warm, drizzle the cream cheese icing over the top generously.
- Enjoy the rolls warm or at room temperature!
💡 Chef's Notes
