Ingredients

  • 16 oz refrigerated biscuit dough
  • 1 pound breakfast sausage
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 quarter cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 half teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 quarter cup chopped green onions
  • 0 optional hot sauce

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Open the can of biscuit dough and separate the biscuits. Flatten each biscuit slightly with your hands to form pizza crusts. Arrange them on a baking sheet, leaving a little space between each one.
  3. Bake the biscuit crusts in the preheated oven for about 8-10 minutes, or until they are golden brown and fluffy. Remove from the oven and set aside.
  4. In a large skillet over medium heat, add the breakfast sausage. Cook until browned and fully cooked through, breaking it up into small pieces with a spatula. Once cooked, transfer the sausage to a plate and drain excess grease, leaving about 1 tablespoon in the skillet.
  5. In the same skillet, add butter and allow it to melt. Whisk in the flour, stirring for about 1-2 minutes until it bubbles and turns a light golden color. Gradually whisk in the milk until smooth. Add garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper. Continue to cook until the gravy thickens, about 5-7 minutes. Stir in the cooked sausage until well combined.
  6. Spread a generous spoonful of sausage gravy over each biscuit crust, covering the surface adequately but leaving a small border for the crust.
  7. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the top of the gravy on each biscuit.
  8. Return the assembled breakfast pizzas to the oven and bake for an additional 5-7 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  9. Once done, remove from the oven and let cool for a minute. Garnish with chopped green onions and drizzle with hot sauce if desired.
