Biscuits and Sausage Gravy Breakfast Pizza Delight
Ingredients
- 16 oz refrigerated biscuit dough
- 1 pound breakfast sausage
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 quarter cup all-purpose flour
- 2 cups milk
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 half teaspoon black pepper
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 quarter cup chopped green onions
- 0 optional hot sauce
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Open the can of biscuit dough and separate the biscuits. Flatten each biscuit slightly with your hands to form pizza crusts. Arrange them on a baking sheet, leaving a little space between each one.
- Bake the biscuit crusts in the preheated oven for about 8-10 minutes, or until they are golden brown and fluffy. Remove from the oven and set aside.
- In a large skillet over medium heat, add the breakfast sausage. Cook until browned and fully cooked through, breaking it up into small pieces with a spatula. Once cooked, transfer the sausage to a plate and drain excess grease, leaving about 1 tablespoon in the skillet.
- In the same skillet, add butter and allow it to melt. Whisk in the flour, stirring for about 1-2 minutes until it bubbles and turns a light golden color. Gradually whisk in the milk until smooth. Add garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper. Continue to cook until the gravy thickens, about 5-7 minutes. Stir in the cooked sausage until well combined.
- Spread a generous spoonful of sausage gravy over each biscuit crust, covering the surface adequately but leaving a small border for the crust.
- Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the top of the gravy on each biscuit.
- Return the assembled breakfast pizzas to the oven and bake for an additional 5-7 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Once done, remove from the oven and let cool for a minute. Garnish with chopped green onions and drizzle with hot sauce if desired.
