Blackberry Balsamic and Brie Grilled Cheese Delight
Ingredients
- 4 slices sourdough bread
- 4 ounces brie cheese, sliced
- 0.5 cup fresh blackberries
- 2 tablespoons balsamic glaze
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
- 1 tablespoon fresh thyme leaves (optional)
- to taste salt and pepper
Instructions
- Start by heating a non-stick skillet over medium-low heat.
- Spread softened butter on one side of each slice of sourdough bread. This will be the outside of the grilled cheese for a golden finish.
- On the non-buttered side of two slices, layer the brie cheese evenly.
- Top the brie with blackberries, then drizzle with balsamic glaze. If desired, sprinkle a few fresh thyme leaves for an added aromatic touch. Season with a pinch of salt and pepper to taste.
- Place the remaining slices of bread on top, buttered side facing out, creating a sandwich.
- Carefully place the sandwiches in the preheated skillet and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side or until golden brown and the brie is melted. Press down gently with a spatula for even toasting.
- Once cooked, remove from skillet and let rest for about 1 minute; this helps the cheese set slightly.
- Cut the grilled cheese in half and serve immediately, optionally drizzled with a little extra balsamic glaze for garnish.
💡 Chef's Notes
Serve the sandwiches on a rustic wooden board, cut diagonally, and garnish with additional blackberries and a sprig of thyme for a pop of color.
