Ingredients

  • 42 oz apple pie filling
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 cup caramel sauce (divided)
  • 15.25 oz yellow cake mix
  • 1 cup unsalted butter (melted, 2 sticks)
  • 1 cup chopped pecans (optional)
  • 1 serving Vanilla ice cream or whipped cream (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the apple pie filling and cinnamon, mixing until well combined.
  3. Pour the seasoned apple pie filling into a greased 9x13 inch baking dish, spreading it evenly across the bottom.
  4. Drizzle half of the caramel sauce over the apple filling, ensuring it’s well distributed.
  5. Sprinkle the yellow cake mix evenly over the apple mixture. Do not stir; simply layer it on top.
  6. In a small bowl, mix the melted butter with the chopped pecans (if using). Drizzle this mixture evenly over the cake mix layer.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for about 45-50 minutes or until the top is golden brown and bubbly.
  8. Once baked, allow the cake to cool for about 10-15 minutes before serving.
  9. Drizzle the remaining caramel sauce on top of the cake just before serving.
  10. Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream for an extra indulgent dessert.
