Ingredients

  • 4 large yellow onions, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon sugar (optional for quicker caramelization)
  • 1 cup cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • to taste Fresh chives, chopped (for garnish)
  • to serve Veggies and chips

Instructions

  1. Heat the olive oil and butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add the sliced onions and sprinkle with salt. Stir occasionally, cooking for about 20-25 minutes until the onions are golden brown and caramelized. If you want to speed up the process, you can add the sugar about halfway through.
  3. Once caramelized, remove the onions from heat and let them cool slightly.
  4. In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, sour cream, garlic powder, and Worcestershire sauce. Mix until smooth and creamy.
  5. Fold in the cooled caramelized onions until well incorporated.
  6. Transfer the dip to a serving bowl and garnish with chopped chives.
  7. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to enhance the flavors before serving.
