Ingredients

  • 1 large loaf crusty French bread
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • to taste Salt and black pepper
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Slice the French bread in half lengthwise and place the halves on a baking sheet cut-side up.
  3. In a medium bowl, mix together the softened butter, minced garlic, parsley, dried oregano, red pepper flakes, salt, and black pepper until well combined.
  4. Spread the garlic butter mixture evenly over the cut sides of the bread.
  5. In another bowl, combine the mozzarella cheese and cheddar cheese. Sprinkle an even layer of the cheese mixture on top of the garlic butter on each half of the bread.
  6. Generously sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese over the cheese layer for added richness.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for about 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly, and the edges of the bread are golden brown.
  8. Remove from the oven and allow to cool for a minute. Then, slice into individual pieces for serving.

💡 Chef's Notes

Serve hot, garnished with extra parsley or oregano, and a side of marinara sauce for dipping.
