Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 0.5 cup warm milk (about 110°F or 43°C)
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) instant yeast
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
  • as needed tablespoons additional melted butter for brushing
  • as desired amount Parmesan cheese for topping

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the warm milk, melted butter, sugar, instant yeast, and salt. Stir and let it sit for about 5 minutes until bubbly on top.
  2. Gradually add the all-purpose flour to the yeast mixture, mixing until a dough forms. Add the shredded mozzarella cheese, minced garlic, and fresh parsley, and mix until well incorporated.
  3. Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead it for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl and cover with a damp cloth. Let it rise in a warm area for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  5. Once risen, punch down the dough and divide it into 12 equal pieces. Shape each piece into a round ball and place them in a greased 9x13 inch baking dish, leaving some space between each roll.
  6. Cover the rolls with a cloth and let them rise again for about 30 minutes until puffy.
  7. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  8. Brush the tops of the rolls with additional melted butter, and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese if desired.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown on top and cooked through.
  10. Once baked, remove from the oven and brush with more melted butter. Let them cool slightly before serving.

💡 Chef's Notes

Serve warm in the baking dish or transfer to a decorative basket lined with a cloth napkin. Garnish with a sprinkle of fresh parsley for a pop of color.
