Chicken Parmesan Meatballs: A Flavorful Twist on a Classic Dish
Ingredients
- 1 pound ground chicken
- 0.5 cup breadcrumbs
- 0.25 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 0.25 cup fresh basil, chopped
- 1 large egg
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 0.5 teaspoon salt
- 0.25 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 cup marinara sauce
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- Fresh basil leaves for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- In a large bowl, combine the ground chicken, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, fresh basil, egg, minced garlic, oregano, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly combined.
- Using your hands, form the mixture into golf-ball-sized meatballs and place them on a lined baking sheet.
- Bake the meatballs in the preheated oven for about 20 minutes or until they reach an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
- While the meatballs are baking, heat the marinara sauce in a saucepan over medium heat. Once warmed, lower the heat to simmer.
- Once the meatballs are fully cooked, remove them from the oven and gently place them into the simmering marinara sauce.
- Sprinkle mozzarella cheese over the meatballs and cover the pan. Allow the cheese to melt for about 5 minutes.
