Ingredients

  • 3 pieces ripe bananas, mashed
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 0.75 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt
  • 1.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 0.5 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 0.25 cup walnuts or pecans, chopped (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the mashed bananas and melted butter until well mixed.
  3. Stir in the brown sugar until fully incorporated, followed by the beaten egg and vanilla extract.
  4. Sprinkle the baking soda and salt over the mixture and stir to combine.
  5. Gradually add the all-purpose flour, folding gently until just combined (do not overmix). The batter should be thick but slightly lumpy.
  6. Fold in the chocolate chips and chopped nuts (if using) until evenly distributed throughout the batter.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top with a spatula.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 60-65 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean or with just a few crumbs.
  9. Let the bread cool in the pan for about 10-15 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.

💡 Chef's Notes

Slice the bread and serve it on a wooden board. Drizzle with melted chocolate and garnish with banana slices and powdered sugar.
