Chopped Cheese & Beef Bacon Sandwich Flavorful Delight
Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- 4 slices beef bacon
- 1 large onion, diced
- 1 bell pepper diced (any color)
- 4 slices American cheese
- 4 hoagie rolls or hero bread
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- to taste salt and pepper
- optional toppings: lettuce, tomato slices, jalapeños, and mayonnaise
Instructions
- In a skillet over medium heat, cook the beef bacon until crispy. Once done, remove from the skillet and set aside on paper towels to absorb excess grease.
- In the same pan, add the olive oil, then add the diced onion and bell pepper. Sauté until the vegetables are softened and slightly caramelized, about 5-7 minutes.
- Push the vegetables to one side of the skillet, then add the ground beef to the other side. Cook the beef, breaking it apart with a spatula until browned and cooked through, about 7-10 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.
- Combine the sautéed onions and peppers with the ground beef, mixing well.
- Lay the cheese slices over the beef mixture and let it melt (you can cover the pan for faster melting).
- While the cheese is melting, toast the hoagie rolls on a separate skillet or in the oven until golden.
- Assemble the sandwiches: on each roll, add a generous portion of the chopped cheese and beef bacon mixture, topped with crispy beef bacon slices.
- Add optional toppings like lettuce, tomato slices, jalapeños, and a spread of mayonnaise if desired.
- Close the sandwich, slice in half if preferred, and serve hot.
💡 Chef's Notes
Serve the sandwiches with a side of potato chips or fries. Use parchment paper to wrap the sandwiches for a casual feel, and garnish plates with pickles for an added touch.
