Christmas Crack Recipe Easy to Make Delight
Ingredients
- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1 sleeve saltine crackers
- 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 cup chopped pecans
- 0.5 teaspoon sea salt
- 0.5 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 0.5 cup crushed candy canes (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil or parchment paper, and spread the saltine crackers in a single layer across the sheet.
- In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter and brown sugar together. Stir constantly until the mixture comes to a gentle boil. Allow it to boil for 3 minutes without stirring.
- Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in vanilla extract. Pour the butter-sugar mixture evenly over the saltine crackers.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 5-7 minutes, just until the liquid is bubbly and begins to caramelize.
- Remove from the oven and immediately sprinkle the chocolate chips over the top. Allow the chips to sit for a couple of minutes until they soften.
- Once softened, use a spatula to spread the melted chocolate to create an even layer. Sprinkle the chopped pecans and sea salt over the top.
- For added festive flair, sprinkle the crushed candy canes on top as well.
- Allow the holiday crack to cool completely at room temperature, or place it in the refrigerator to speed up the cooling process.
- Once set, break into pieces and serve or package them in festive tins for gift giving.
