Ingredients

  • 3 large apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon coconut sugar (or brown sugar)
  • a pinch salt
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 200°F (95°C). Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Rinse and dry the apples. Using a mandoline slicer or a sharp knife, slice the apples into thin rounds (about 1/8 inch thick). If desired, toss the slices in lemon juice to coat them and prevent browning.
  3. In a small bowl, combine the ground cinnamon, coconut sugar, and salt. Mix well.
  4. Arrange the apple slices in a single layer on the prepared baking sheets, ensuring they don’t overlap.
  5. Sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture evenly over the apple slices.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for about 2 to 3 hours, or until the apples are completely dry and crunchy. Flip the slices halfway through for even baking.
  7. Once done, allow the apple chips to cool on the baking sheets before transferring them to an airtight container.

💡 Chef's Notes

For best results, use a mandoline slicer for even slices.
