Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 0.5 cup granulated sugar (for coating)
  • 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon (for coating)
  • 1 serving Chocolate sauce (for drizzling, optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your waffle iron according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, sugar, and ground cinnamon until well combined.
  3. In another bowl, mix the milk, egg, and melted butter until fully blended.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined; small lumps are okay.
  5. Lightly grease the waffle iron with non-stick spray or a little extra melted butter.
  6. Pour an appropriate amount of batter into the preheated waffle iron (about 3/4 cup, depending on your waffle iron size) and close the lid. Cook according to your iron’s instructions, typically 3-5 minutes, until golden and crisp.
  7. While the waffles are cooking, prepare the cinnamon sugar coating by combining the granulated sugar and ground cinnamon in a shallow dish.
  8. Once the waffles are done, carefully remove them from the iron. While they are still warm, coat each waffle on both sides in the cinnamon sugar mixture, ensuring an even layer.
  9. For an extra special touch, drizzle chocolate sauce on top before serving (optional).

💡 Chef's Notes

Stack the coated waffles on a serving plate and dust with additional cinnamon sugar. Serve with a side of whipped cream or vanilla ice cream for a delightful dessert or treat!
