Ingredients

  • 0.5 cup mayonnaise
  • 0.25 cup balsamic vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon honey (or maple syrup for a vegan option)
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 0.25 cup olive oil
  • to taste salt and pepper
  • 1 tablespoon fresh basil, finely chopped (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, balsamic vinegar, Dijon mustard, honey, and minced garlic until smooth and well combined.
  2. Slowly drizzle in the olive oil while whisking continuously to emulsify the mixture. The dressing should become creamy and cohesive.
  3. Season the vinaigrette with salt and pepper to taste. Adjust the sweetness with additional honey or syrup if desired.
  4. If using, fold in the chopped fresh basil for an herby twist.
  5. Transfer the vinaigrette to an airtight container and let it chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes before serving to allow the flavors to meld.
