Crème Brûlée Heart Donuts Irresistible Sweet Delight
Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 0.5 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 0.5 teaspoon salt
- 0.5 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup milk
- 0.25 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 0.25 cup heavy cream
- 0.25 cup powdered sugar
- 1 tablespoon vanilla bean paste
- 0.25 cup granulated sugar (for caramelizing)
- 1 tablespoon chocolate sprinkles (for garnish, optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a heart-shaped donut pan with non-stick spray or oil.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt until well combined.
- In another bowl, mix the eggs, milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Gradually pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, stirring gently until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Using a piping bag or a spoon, fill the heart-shaped donut molds about 2/3 full with the batter.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean. Let them cool in the pan for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
- While the donuts are cooling, prepare the crème brûlée filling: in a small saucepan, heat the heavy cream over medium heat until it starts to simmer. Remove from heat.
- In a separate bowl, whisk the powdered sugar and vanilla bean paste until smooth. Gradually stir in the warm cream until fully incorporated. Allow it to cool slightly.
- Once donuts are cool, create a small hole in the middle of each donut using a knife or a piping tip to make space for the filling.
- Fill each donut hole with the crème brûlée mixture using a piping bag or squeeze bottle.
- To achieve the signature brûlée topping, sprinkle a thin, even layer of granulated sugar over each filled donut.
- Using a kitchen torch, carefully caramelize the sugar until it bubbles and turns golden brown. If you do not have a kitchen torch, broil the donuts in the oven for a minute or until the sugar caramelizes—watch closely to prevent burning.
- Let the caramelized sugar set for a minute to harden.
- Optional: Garnish with chocolate sprinkles for an added touch of flair.
💡 Chef's Notes
Use a kitchen torch for best results when caramelizing the sugar.
