Ingredients

  • 1 can (15 oz) chickpeas, rinsed and drained
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon onion powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground cumin
  • to taste salt and pepper
  • a pinch cayenne pepper (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for about 5 minutes.
  2. While the air fryer is preheating, take the rinsed and drained chickpeas and pat them dry with a paper towel. Removing excess moisture helps achieve crispiness.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine the dried chickpeas with olive oil, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, ground cumin, salt, and pepper. If you like some heat, add a pinch of cayenne pepper.
  4. Toss the chickpeas until they are evenly coated with the oil and spices.
  5. Once the air fryer is ready, add the seasoned chickpeas in a single layer in the fryer basket. Avoid overcrowding to allow proper air circulation.
  6. Cook the chickpeas in the air fryer for 15 to 20 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through for even cooking. Keep an eye on them in the last few minutes to ensure they don’t burn.
  7. Once they are golden brown and crispy, remove the chickpeas from the air fryer and let them cool slightly before serving.
