Ingredients

  • 4 fillets salmon (skin-on)
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce (or a low-sodium alternative)
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • to taste salt and pepper
  • 2 tablespoons sesame seeds
  • 2 green onions, chopped (for garnish)
  • lemon wedges (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Marinade: In a small bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, and grated ginger until well combined. Set aside half of the marinade for later use.
  2. Season the Salmon: Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels. Season both sides with salt and pepper.
  3. Marinate: Place the salmon fillets in a shallow dish and pour the marinade over them. Let them marinate for about 10 minutes, flipping halfway through for even flavor absorption.
  4. Heat the Pan: In a large non-stick skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat until shimmering.
  5. Cook Salmon: Add the salmon fillets to the pan, skin side down first. Cook for about 4-5 minutes, or until the skin is crispy and the salmon is cooked halfway through. Flip the fillets and brush with the reserved marinade.
  6. Glaze the Salmon: Cook for an additional 3-4 minutes, often spooning the sauce over the top of the salmon for extra flavor. The salmon should be fully cooked but still juicy.
  7. Sprinkle Sesame Seeds: Once cooked, sprinkle sesame seeds over the salmon fillets in the skillet.
  8. Serve: Remove from heat and transfer to serving plates. Drizzle with remaining honey-garlic sauce. Garnish with chopped green onions and serve with lemon wedges on the side.
