Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground chicken
  • 1 tablespoon Cajun seasoning
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 green bell pepper finely chopped
  • 1 cup canned diced tomatoes (with juices)
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 0 Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 hamburger buns
  • 0 Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and bell pepper. Sauté for about 4-5 minutes or until softened.
  2. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute until fragrant.
  3. Add the ground chicken to the skillet. Use a spatula to break it up as it cooks. Cook until it's browned and no longer pink, about 5-7 minutes.
  4. Sprinkle in the Cajun seasoning, stirring well to evenly coat the chicken mixture. Season with salt and pepper.
  5. Pour in the diced tomatoes (with their juices), tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, and brown sugar. Stir to combine all the ingredients.
  6. Lower the heat and let the mixture simmer for about 10-15 minutes, until it thickens slightly. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.
  7. While the mixture is simmering, toast your hamburger buns until golden brown.
  8. Spoon the Cajun chicken mixture generously onto each toasted bun.
  9. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley before serving.

💡 Chef's Notes

Serve with a side of crispy potato wedges or a fresh green salad. Provide hot sauce on the side for an extra kick!
