Easy Marinated Cheese Appetizer Flavorful and Simple
Ingredients
- 8 oz block of feta cheese or mozzarella balls
- 0.5 cup extra virgin olive oil
- 2 cloves garlic, crushed
- 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 1 tablespoon dried oregano
- 1 tablespoon fresh thyme leaves or 1 teaspoon dried
- 1 zest of lemon
- to taste salt and pepper
- for garnish fresh basil leaves
Instructions
- In a small mixing bowl, combine the extra virgin olive oil, crushed garlic, red pepper flakes, dried oregano, thyme, lemon zest, salt, and pepper. Whisk the ingredients together until well combined.
- Place the block of feta cheese or mozzarella balls in a glass jar or an airtight container.
- Pour the marinade over the cheese, ensuring that it's well coated. If using a block of cheese, press down to submerge it partially in the oil.
- Seal the jar or container tightly and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight for optimal flavor infusion.
- When ready to serve, remove the cheese from the fridge and let it sit for about 15 minutes at room temperature.
- Transfer the marinated cheese to a serving platter, drizzling some of the marinade over the top. Garnish with fresh basil leaves.
- Serve with crusty bread, crackers, or fresh vegetables for dipping.
