Ingredients

  • 8 slices thick-cut bread (e.g., sourdough or ciabatta)
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 6 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 0.5 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • to taste salt and pepper
  • for topping grated Parmesan cheese (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a medium mixing bowl, combine the softened butter, minced garlic, chopped parsley, dried oregano, red pepper flakes, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are fully incorporated.
  3. Lay out the slices of bread on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  4. Generously spread the garlic butter mixture over each slice of bread, covering them well but not allowing the butter to drip off the edges.
  5. If desired, sprinkle a little grated Parmesan cheese over the top of each slice for an extra cheesy flavor.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for about 12-15 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the butter has melted completely.
  7. For a crisper result, switch the oven to broil for the last minute of cooking, watching carefully to prevent burning.
  8. Remove from the oven and let cool for a minute before slicing. Serve warm.
