Ingredients

  • 1 pound sea scallops, cleaned and patted dry
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 0.25 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • to taste salt and pepper
  • 0.25 cup breadcrumbs (preferably panko)
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
  • as needed lemon wedges (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a small bowl, combine the melted butter, minced garlic, lemon juice, red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper. Mix well to create a garlic butter sauce.
  3. Arrange the scallops in a single layer in a baking dish, preferably a shallow one for even cooking.
  4. Spoon the garlic butter mixture evenly over the scallops, ensuring each scallop is well-coated.
  5. Sprinkle the breadcrumbs over the top of the scallops for a crunchy finish.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for about 12-15 minutes, or until the scallops are opaque and the breadcrumbs are golden brown.
  7. Remove from the oven and let cool briefly. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
  8. Serve immediately with lemon wedges on the side for an extra zesty kick.
