Ingredients

  • 6 large croissants, preferably a day or two old
  • 1 cup diced ham
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 6 large eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 0.5 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon onion powder
  • to taste salt and pepper
  • optional fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  2. Tear the croissants into bite-sized pieces and spread half of them evenly in the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
  3. Layer the diced ham over the croissant pieces, followed by a mix of the shredded cheddar and mozzarella cheeses.
  4. Add the remaining croissant pieces on top of the cheese layer.
  5. In a medium bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, Dijon mustard, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper until well combined.
  6. Pour the egg mixture evenly over the layered croissants, ham, and cheese, ensuring all the croissant pieces are soaked.
  7. Cover the dish with foil and let it rest for about 15 minutes, allowing the croissants to absorb the custard mixture.
  8. Remove the foil and bake the casserole for 30-35 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the egg is set.
  9. Let it rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing.
  10. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired, and serve warm.

💡 Chef's Notes

Cut the casserole into squares and serve on individual plates, adding a sprinkle of fresh parsley for color. You can pair it with sliced tomatoes or a simple green salad for a delightful breakfast or brunch!
