Ham and Cheese Croissant Breakfast Casserole Delight
Ingredients
- 6 large croissants, preferably a day or two old
- 1 cup diced ham
- 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 6 large eggs
- 2 cups milk
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
- 0.5 teaspoon garlic powder
- 0.5 teaspoon onion powder
- to taste salt and pepper
- optional fresh parsley for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
- Tear the croissants into bite-sized pieces and spread half of them evenly in the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
- Layer the diced ham over the croissant pieces, followed by a mix of the shredded cheddar and mozzarella cheeses.
- Add the remaining croissant pieces on top of the cheese layer.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, Dijon mustard, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper until well combined.
- Pour the egg mixture evenly over the layered croissants, ham, and cheese, ensuring all the croissant pieces are soaked.
- Cover the dish with foil and let it rest for about 15 minutes, allowing the croissants to absorb the custard mixture.
- Remove the foil and bake the casserole for 30-35 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the egg is set.
- Let it rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing.
- Garnish with fresh parsley if desired, and serve warm.
