Ingredients

  • 6 large croissants, cut into halves
  • 2 cups diced ham
  • 2 cups shredded cheese (Swiss or cheddar, or a mix)
  • 8 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 0.5 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon onion powder
  • to taste salt and pepper
  • for garnish Fresh parsley, chopped

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 inch casserole dish.
  2. In the greased dish, layer the bottom with the halved croissants, cut side up.
  3. Evenly distribute the diced ham over the croissant halves, followed by sprinkling half of the shredded cheese on top.
  4. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, Dijon mustard, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper until well combined.
  5. Pour the egg mixture evenly over the croissant and ham layers, ensuring that all croissant pieces are soaked in the mixture.
  6. Sprinkle the remaining cheese on top of the casserole.
  7. Allow the casserole to sit for about 10-15 minutes at room temperature for the croissants to absorb the egg mixture.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the casserole is set and golden brown on top.
  9. Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes. Garnish with chopped parsley before serving.

💡 Chef's Notes

Serve slices of the casserole on plates, drizzled with a bit of hot sauce or your favorite condiment for an extra kick. Add a side of mixed greens for a refreshing contrast. Enjoy!
