Ham & Cheese Breakfast Pastry: A Deliciously Easy Recipe
Ingredients
- 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
- 4 oz cooked ham, chopped
- 4 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or Swiss)
- 1 egg beaten (for egg wash)
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 1 tablespoon chopped chives (optional)
- to taste salt and pepper
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- On a lightly floured surface, roll out the puff pastry to smoothen it. Cut the pastry into 4 equal squares.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the chopped ham, softened cream cheese, shredded cheese, Dijon mustard, and chives. Mix until well combined. Season with salt and pepper.
- Place a generous spoonful of the ham and cheese mixture in the center of each pastry square.
- Fold the corners of the pastry square over the filling, pinching them together to create a sealed packet. Optionally, you can crimp the edges with a fork for a decorative finish.
- Brush the tops of the pastries with the beaten egg to give them a golden color while baking.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the pastries are golden brown and puffed.
- Remove from the oven and let cool for a couple of minutes before serving.
