Ingredients

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons instant yeast
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup whole milk, warmed to about 110°F (43°C)
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened (for spreading)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar (for frosting)
  • 2-4 tablespoons milk (for frosting consistency)

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine 2 cups of flour, granulated sugar, instant yeast, and salt. Stir until evenly mixed.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together the warm milk, melted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract.
  3. Gradually pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients, mixing until combined.
  4. Slowly add the remaining flour, one cup at a time, until the dough begins to pull away from the sides of the bowl.
  5. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
  6. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  7. Once risen, punch down the dough and roll it out on a floured surface into a rectangle (about 16x12 inches).
  8. Spread the softened butter over the dough, leaving a small border. Then, sprinkle the brown sugar and ground cinnamon evenly over the butter.
  9. Starting from the longer side, carefully roll the dough into a tight log. Pinch the seams to seal.
  10. Cut the log into 12 equal pieces using a sharp knife or dental floss for clean cuts.
  11. Arrange the rolls in a greased baking dish, cover, and let them rise for about 30 minutes.
  12. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) while the rolls rise.
  13. Bake the cinnamon rolls for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown on top.
  14. Meanwhile, prepare the frosting by whisking together powdered sugar and enough milk to achieve your desired consistency.
  15. Once the rolls are done baking, allow them to cool for about 10 minutes before drizzling the frosting over the top.

💡 Chef's Notes
