Homemade Potato Chips Crispy and Flavorful Treat
Ingredients
- 4 large russet potatoes
- 0.25 cup olive oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 teaspoons dried rosemary
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 0.5 teaspoon smoked paprika (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Wash and scrub the potatoes thoroughly. Leave the skin on for extra texture and flavor.
- Using a mandoline slicer or a sharp knife, slice the potatoes into very thin rounds (about 1/8 inch thick).
- Place the potato slices in a large bowl and cover them with cold water. Let soak for 20-30 minutes to remove excess starch, which will help them crisp up better.
- After soaking, drain the potatoes and pat them dry with a clean kitchen towel to remove moisture.
- In a small bowl, mix the olive oil, minced garlic, dried rosemary, salt, black pepper, and smoked paprika (if using).
- In a large mixing bowl, toss the dry potato slices with the garlic herb oil mixture until they are evenly coated.
- Arrange the potato slices in a single layer on the prepared baking sheets, making sure they do not overlap.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, flipping the potato chips halfway through to ensure even cooking. Keep an eye on them toward the end to prevent burning. They should be golden and crispy when done.
- Remove the chips from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes on the baking sheets before transferring to a wire rack. This will help them crisp up further.
- Enjoy your homemade potato chips with your favorite dip, or snack on them plain!
