Homemade Strawberry Cheesecake Sweet Rolls Delight
Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 0.25 cup granulated sugar
- 1 packet active dry yeast (2 1/4 teaspoons)
- 0.5 teaspoon salt
- 0.5 cup milk, warmed
- 0.25 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 large egg
- 1 cup fresh strawberries, diced
- 0.5 cup cream cheese, softened
- 0.33 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice
- to taste butter for brushing
- to taste powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, combine the warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes, or until it becomes frothy.
- In another bowl, mix the flour and salt. Once the yeast mixture is ready, add it to the flour along with the melted butter and egg. Stir until a soft dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until it is smooth and elastic. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
- While the dough is rising, prepare the cheesecake filling. In a mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and lemon juice until smooth and creamy. Fold in the diced strawberries gently.
- After the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a lightly floured surface into a rectangle of about 12x18 inches.
- Spread the cheesecake mixture evenly across the rolled-out dough. Starting from one long edge, roll the dough tightly into a log shape. Slice the log into 12 equal pieces.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Arrange the rolls in a greased baking dish, leaving a bit of space between each one. Cover and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
- Bake the rolls for 25-30 minutes, or until they are golden brown. Once out of the oven, brush melted butter on top of the rolls while they're still warm.
- For serving, dust with additional powdered sugar and serve warm.
💡 Chef's Notes
Arrange the sweet rolls on a beautiful platter and garnish with whole strawberries or a sprinkle of extra powdered sugar for an appealing touch. A dollop of whipped cream on the side would complement the rolls perfectly!
