Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground turkey
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (preferably whole wheat)
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped green onion
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 unit egg
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce (low-sodium)
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, grated
  • to taste salt and pepper
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil (for frying)

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground turkey, breadcrumbs, chopped green onion, minced garlic, egg, soy sauce, honey, grated ginger, salt, and pepper.
  2. Mix all the ingredients until well combined. It’s best to use your hands for this, but ensure they are clean!
  3. Form the mixture into small meatballs, about 1 inch in diameter. You should end up with approximately 20 meatballs.
  4. Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  5. Once the oil is hot, add the meatballs in batches, ensuring they aren't overcrowded in the pan. Cook for about 5-7 minutes, turning them occasionally, until they are golden brown and cooked through.
  6. In a small bowl, mix together 1/4 cup honey and 2 tablespoons soy sauce. Once the meatballs are cooked, pour this mixture over them in the skillet.
  7. Gently toss the meatballs in the honey-soy sauce mix until they are well coated and let them simmer for an additional 2-3 minutes to absorb the flavors.

💡 Chef's Notes
