How to Make a Rich Caramel Custard Frappe Treat
Ingredients
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1 2 cup heavy cream
- 3 large egg yolks
- 1 4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 4 cup caramel sauce, plus extra for drizzling
- 1 cup ice cubes
- 0 Whipped cream for topping
- 0 pinch sea salt
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan, heat the milk and heavy cream over medium heat until just steaming. Remove from heat and set aside.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the egg yolks, granulated sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth and well combined.
- Slowly pour the warm milk mixture into the egg yolk mixture while whisking continuously to temper the eggs. This will prevent them from curdling.
- Pour the combined mixture back into the saucepan and cook over low heat, stirring constantly until it thickens slightly and coats the back of a spoon, about 5-7 minutes. Don’t let it boil!
- Remove from heat and stir in the caramel sauce and a pinch of sea salt. Let this custard mixture cool to room temperature.
- Once cooled, transfer the custard to a blender, add the ice cubes, and blend until smooth and frothy.
- Pour the frappe into tall glasses, leaving some room at the top for whipped cream.
- Top each glass with a generous dollop of whipped cream and drizzle some additional caramel sauce over it.
💡 Chef's Notes
Serve the frappe with a cute straw and a sprinkle of sea salt on top of the whipped cream for an elegant touch! You can also garnish with a caramel candy on the rim for an extra flair.
