Ingredients

  • 4 fillets salmon (about 6 oz each)
  • 0.25 cup pure maple syrup
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce (low sodium)
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 1 unit Juice of 1 lemon
  • to taste unit Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together the maple syrup, soy sauce, Dijon mustard, garlic powder, black pepper, salt, and lemon juice until well combined.
  2. Place the salmon fillets in a shallow dish or a resealable plastic bag and pour the marinade over the salmon, ensuring it's completely coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes or up to 2 hours for a stronger flavor.
  3. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
  4. Remove the salmon from the marinade, reserving the marinade for later. Place the fillets on the prepared baking sheet, skin side down.
  5. Bake the salmon in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the salmon flakes easily with a fork.
  6. While the salmon is baking, pour the reserved marinade into a small saucepan and bring it to a simmer over medium heat. Cook for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it thickens slightly.
  7. Brush the thickened glaze over the salmon fillets during the last 2 minutes of baking for an extra layer of flavor.
  8. Once the salmon is cooked, remove it from the oven, brush with any remaining glaze, and let it rest for a couple of minutes.
  9. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired before serving.

💡 Chef's Notes

For best flavor, marinate the salmon for up to 2 hours.
