Ingredients

  • 2 cups shredded cooked chicken
  • 0.5 cup buffalo sauce
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 0.5 cup cream cheese, softened
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 package refrigerated pizza dough (about 1 pound)
  • 1 egg beaten (for egg wash)
  • 0 none chopped green onions (for garnish)
  • 0 none ranch or blue cheese dressing (for dipping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine the shredded chicken, buffalo sauce, mozzarella cheese, cream cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper. Mix well until everything is evenly coated and combined.
  3. Roll out the pizza dough on a floured surface to about 1/4 inch thickness. Cut the dough into circles using a large cookie cutter or a cup (about 4-5 inches in diameter).
  4. Place about 2 tablespoons of the buffalo chicken mixture on one half of each dough circle, leaving a border around the edge for sealing.
  5. Fold the other half of the dough over the filling to create a half-moon shape. Press down the edges to seal it tightly, then crimp with a fork for a decorative design.
  6. Place the calzones on the prepared baking sheet. Brush the tops with the beaten egg for a golden finish.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown and puffed.
  8. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving. Garnish with chopped green onions.
  9. Serve the calzones with ranch or blue cheese dressing for dipping.

💡 Chef's Notes
