M&M’s® Caramel Popcorn Balls Delightful Easy Treat
Ingredients
- 8 cups popped popcorn (approximately 1/2 cup unpopped kernels)
- 1 cup M&M’s® chocolate candies
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 2 cups unsalted butter
- 1 4 cup corn syrup
- 1 2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 4 teaspoon baking soda
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 250°F (120°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
- In a large bowl, place your popped popcorn and M&M’s®; mix them gently to combine.
- In a saucepan over medium heat, combine the brown sugar, butter, corn syrup, and salt. Stir continuously until the butter has melted and the mixture comes to a boil.
- Once boiling, let it cook for 4 to 5 minutes without stirring. Remove from heat.
- Stir in the vanilla extract and baking soda, which will cause the mixture to bubble up. Mix well to ensure everything is combined.
- Pour the caramel mixture over the popcorn and M&M’s®. Using a spatula or your hands (greased with cooking oil), gently mix until all the popcorn is well coated.
- With greased hands, form the popcorn mixture into balls about the size of a golf ball and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake the popcorn balls in the preheated oven for about 30 minutes, stirring occasionally to ensure even coating.
- Remove from the oven and let them cool completely before serving.
