Ingredients

  • 1 pound pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)
  • 8 ounces steak, thinly sliced (ribeye or sirloin)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 bell pepper thinly sliced (any color)
  • 1 small onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 cups fresh mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 1 2 provolone cheese, shredded
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • to taste salt and pepper
  • 1 egg beaten (for egg wash)
  • optional fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a skillet over medium-high heat, add the olive oil. Once heated, add the thinly sliced steak. Season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning. Cook for about 3-4 minutes until browned but not fully cooked through. Remove from heat and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, add the sliced bell pepper and onion. Sauté for about 3-5 minutes until they are softened and slightly caramelized. Remove from heat and combine with the cooked steak.
  4. On a floured surface, roll out your pizza dough into a large rectangle, about 1/4 inch thick.
  5. Layer the shredded mozzarella and provolone cheese evenly over the dough. Then, place the steak and vegetable mixture on top of the cheese, leaving about an inch of space at the edges.
  6. Using your hands, carefully roll the dough from one long side to the other, making sure to keep the filling compact. Pinch the ends to seal and tuck them under slightly to create a neat edge.
  7. Place the stromboli seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet. Brush the top with the beaten egg for a golden finish.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes until the stromboli is golden brown and cooked through.
  9. Once baked, remove from the oven and let it cool for about 5 minutes. Slice into pieces and serve warm.
  10. Optionally, garnish with chopped fresh parsley before serving.
