Ingredients

  • 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 2 cups broccoli florets
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 inch fresh ginger, grated
  • 3 tablespoons sesame oil
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free)
  • 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
  • 0 Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 green onions, sliced for garnish

Instructions

  1. Heat 2 tablespoons of sesame oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Add the minced garlic and grated ginger to the pan, sautéing for about 1 minute until fragrant.
  3. Toss in the broccoli florets and a pinch of salt, stirring frequently. Sauté for about 3-4 minutes, or until the broccoli is bright green and slightly tender.
  4. Push the broccoli to one side of the pan and add the shrimp to the other side. Season the shrimp with salt and pepper.
  5. Cook the shrimp for about 2-3 minutes on one side until they turn pink, then flip them over.
  6. In a small bowl, mix together soy sauce, honey (or maple syrup), rice vinegar, and the remaining tablespoon of sesame oil. Pour this mixture over the shrimp and broccoli.
  7. Stir well to combine everything and coat the shrimp and broccoli in the sauce. Cook for an additional 2 minutes until everything is heated through and the sauce has thickened slightly.
  8. Remove from heat, and sprinkle sesame seeds and sliced green onions over the top.
