Peach Cream Cheese Danish Delightful and Simple Recipe
Ingredients
- 1 package refrigerated puff pastry (2 sheets, thawed)
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 ripe peaches, sliced thin
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 egg for egg wash
- 1 tablespoon milk for egg wash
- 0 Optional: Sesame seeds or chia seeds for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a mixing bowl, combine softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract. Beat until smooth and creamy.
- On a lightly floured surface, roll out the puff pastry sheets to smooth out any creases. Cut each sheet into 6 equal squares.
- Using a knife, lightly score a smaller square inside each pastry square, about half an inch from the edges, being careful not to cut all the way through. This will create a border.
- In a separate bowl, toss the sliced peaches with lemon juice to prevent browning.
- Place a generous spoonful of the cream cheese mixture in the center of each scored pastry square. Arrange a few peach slices on top of the cream cheese.
- Beat together the egg and milk to create an egg wash. Brush the edges of the pastry squares with the egg wash.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 15-18 minutes or until the pastry is golden brown and flaky.
- Remove the danishes from the oven and allow them to cool slightly before serving.
