Ingredients

  • 1 package refrigerated puff pastry (2 sheets, thawed)
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 ripe peaches, sliced thin
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 egg for egg wash
  • 1 tablespoon milk for egg wash
  • 0 Optional: Sesame seeds or chia seeds for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract. Beat until smooth and creamy.
  3. On a lightly floured surface, roll out the puff pastry sheets to smooth out any creases. Cut each sheet into 6 equal squares.
  4. Using a knife, lightly score a smaller square inside each pastry square, about half an inch from the edges, being careful not to cut all the way through. This will create a border.
  5. In a separate bowl, toss the sliced peaches with lemon juice to prevent browning.
  6. Place a generous spoonful of the cream cheese mixture in the center of each scored pastry square. Arrange a few peach slices on top of the cream cheese.
  7. Beat together the egg and milk to create an egg wash. Brush the edges of the pastry squares with the egg wash.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-18 minutes or until the pastry is golden brown and flaky.
  9. Remove the danishes from the oven and allow them to cool slightly before serving.
