- 1 2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 2 cup packed brown sugar
- 1 2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup chocolate kisses, unwrapped
- 0 optional Coarse sea salt for sprinkling
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking dish or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the softened butter, creamy peanut butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar. Beat them together using a hand mixer or whisk until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
- Add the egg and vanilla extract to the mixture, continuing to beat until well combined.
- In another bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add this dry mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
- Spread the batter evenly into the prepared baking dish, smoothing the top with a spatula.
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 20-25 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out mostly clean.
- Remove from the oven and immediately press the chocolate kisses into the top of the bars in even rows.
- If desired, sprinkle a little coarse sea salt over the top for an added flavor kick.
- Allow the bars to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Once cooled, cut into squares and serve.
