Ingredients

  • 1 pound ribeye steak, thinly sliced
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 1 large green bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • to taste Salt and black pepper
  • 4 slices provolone cheese
  • 4 hoagie rolls
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon hot sauce (optional)

Instructions

  1. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Add the sliced onions and bell peppers. Sauté for about 5-7 minutes until they are soft and slightly caramelized. Remove them from the skillet and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, add the sliced ribeye steak. Season with salt and black pepper. Cook for about 5 minutes, stirring frequently, until the meat is browned and cooked through.
  4. While the steak is still in the skillet, lay the provolone cheese slices on top. Allow the cheese to melt for a minute.
  5. Divide the steak mixture evenly among the hoagie rolls, topping each with the sautéed onions and bell peppers.
  6. If desired, spread a little mayonnaise and drizzle some hot sauce on the inside of the rolls before placing the steak mixture inside.
  7. Serve immediately, hot and cheesy!

💡 Chef's Notes

Serve the cheesesteaks with a side of crispy potato chips or fries. Consider wrapping each sandwich in parchment paper and tying it up with twine for a rustic look!
