Salisbury Steak Recipe Delicious with Mushroom Gravy
Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- 0.25 cup breadcrumbs
- 0.25 cup finely chopped onion
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- to taste Salt and pepper
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 2 cups mushrooms, sliced
- 1 cup beef broth
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- for garnish Fresh parsley, chopped
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, chopped onion, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, thyme, salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.
- Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape each into an oval patty, about 1 inch thick.
- Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the patties to the skillet and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side until they are browned and cooked through. Remove the patties from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add the sliced mushrooms and sauté for about 5 minutes until they are golden and softened. Sprinkle the flour over the mushrooms and stir to coat for about 1 minute.
- Gradually stir in the beef broth, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the skillet. Bring the mixture to a simmer and cook for about 3-4 minutes until the gravy thickens.
- Return the cooked patties to the skillet, spooning the mushroom gravy over them. Let it simmer together for another 2-3 minutes to meld the flavors.
- Taste and adjust seasoning with salt and pepper if needed.
