Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate Irresistible Winter Drink
Ingredients
- 2 cups milk (or any dairy-free alternative)
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon sea salt (plus extra for topping)
- 1/4 cup store-bought or homemade caramel sauce
- 1 serving whipped cream, for topping
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan, combine the milk and heavy cream over medium heat. Stir occasionally until warm but not boiling.
- Whisk in the cocoa powder and sugar until fully dissolved, followed by the semi-sweet chocolate chips. Continue to stir until melted and smooth.
- Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the vanilla extract and sea salt until well incorporated.
- Drizzle half of the caramel sauce into the hot chocolate and stir to combine.
- Pour the hot chocolate into mugs and top with a generous swirl of whipped cream.
- Drizzle the remaining caramel sauce over the whipped cream and finish with a sprinkle of sea salt on top for that perfect salted caramel flavor.
