Ingredients

  • 1 lb sirloin steak, cut into bite-sized cubes
  • 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup soy sauce (low sodium can be used)
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (adjust for spice preference)
  • 2 green onions chopped (for garnish)
  • to taste salt and black pepper
  • for serving cooked white or brown rice

Instructions

  1. Start by marinating the steak bites. In a bowl, combine the soy sauce, honey, sesame oil, garlic, ginger, and red pepper flakes. Add the steak cubes and marinate for at least 30 minutes in the refrigerator.
  2. After marinating, heat 2 tablespoons of butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once melted, add the steak bites in a single layer. Do not overcrowd the skillet. Sear the steak for about 3-4 minutes until browned on all sides. Season with salt and pepper.
  3. Remove the steak from the skillet and set it aside on a plate. In the same skillet, add the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter. Once melted, add the shrimp and cook for about 2-3 minutes, or until they turn pink and opaque.
  4. Return the marinated steak to the skillet, and toss it with the shrimp. Cook together for an additional 2-3 minutes to blend the flavors.
  5. Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary. If you'd like more sauce, feel free to add additional soy sauce or a pinch of sugar for sweetness.
  6. Serve the savory steak bites and shrimp over a bed of rice. Garnish with chopped green onions for a fresh touch.

💡 Chef's Notes
