Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1.5 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 3.33 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons cream of tartar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.25 cup granulated sugar for coating
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract, mixing well until combined.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just incorporated.
  5. In a small bowl, combine the ¼ cup granulated sugar and 2 teaspoons of ground cinnamon for the coating.
  6. Using a tablespoon or cookie scoop, portion out the dough and roll it into balls. Roll each ball in the cinnamon sugar mixture to coat evenly.
  7. Place the coated cookie dough balls onto the lined baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden, and the centers look slightly underbaked (they will continue to set as they cool).
  9. Remove from the oven and allow to cool on the baking sheets for about 5 minutes before transferring them to wire racks to cool completely.
