Stir Fry Sauce Guide Simple and Essential Tips
Ingredients
- 0.25 cup soy sauce (low sodium preferred)
- 2 tablespoons sesame oil
- 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch (optional, for thickening)
- 0.5 teaspoon red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)
- 1 tablespoon water (if using cornstarch)
Instructions
- In a medium mixing bowl, combine the soy sauce, sesame oil, rice vinegar, grated ginger, minced garlic, and honey (or maple syrup).
- Whisk together until the ingredients are well incorporated. This will be your base sauce.
- If you prefer a thicker sauce, mix the cornstarch with water in a small bowl until smooth, then add it to your sauce mix.
- Stir in the red pepper flakes for a bit of spice, adjusting the amount according to your taste preference.
- Allow the sauce to sit for at least 10 minutes to let the flavors meld together and for the cornstarch (if used) to activate before adding it to your stir-fried vegetables or proteins.
- For a quick stir-fry, heat a bit of oil in a pan over medium-high heat, add your choice of vegetables and/or proteins, and pour in the stir fry sauce at the end of cooking to coat everything evenly.
💡 Chef's Notes
