Strawberry Cheesecake Sweet Rolls Irresistible Delight
Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 packet instant yeast (2 1/4 teaspoons)
- 1 4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 2 teaspoon salt
- 1 2 cup milk, warmed (about 110°F)
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 1 large egg
- 1 2 cup cream cheese, softened
- 1 4 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup fresh strawberries, diced
- 2 tablespoons lemon zest
- 2 tablespoons butter, melted (for brushing)
- 1 4 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
- 1 tablespoon milk (for glaze)
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, instant yeast, granulated sugar, and salt. Mix well to incorporate all dry ingredients.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the warm milk, melted butter, and egg. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until a dough starts to form.
- Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 5-7 minutes, until it becomes smooth and elastic. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm area for about 1 hour, or until it doubles in size.
- While the dough is rising, prepare the cheesecake filling. In a medium bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth and creamy.
- Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a lightly floured surface into a rectangle (about 12x18 inches).
- Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over the rolled-out dough, leaving a small border around the edges. Sprinkle the diced strawberries and lemon zest over the cream cheese layer.
- Roll the dough tightly, starting from one long side, to form a log. Pinch the seams to seal it well. Cut the log into 12 equal pieces.
- Place the cut rolls into a greased baking dish, spacing them evenly. Cover the dish with a damp cloth and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). After the rolls have risen, brush the tops with melted butter.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, until golden brown. Allow to cool for about 10 minutes after removing from the oven.
- For the glaze, mix the remaining powdered sugar with 1 tablespoon of milk until smooth. Drizzle the glaze over the rolls before serving.
