Ingredients

  • 2 cups pretzel sticks
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 0.75 cup granulated sugar, divided
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 cup whipped topping (like Cool Whip)
  • 2 cups fresh strawberries, sliced
  • 1 cup strawberry gelatin powder (not prepared)
  • 2 cups boiling water
  • 2 cups cold water

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large ziplock bag, crush the pretzel sticks into small pieces.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine the crushed pretzels with melted butter and ¼ cup granulated sugar. Stir until the pretzels are evenly coated.
  4. Press the pretzel mixture into the bottom of a 9x13-inch baking dish to form a crust. Bake for 10 minutes, then remove from the oven and let cool completely.
  5. In another bowl, beat the softened cream cheese with a hand mixer until smooth. Gradually add in the remaining ½ cup of granulated sugar and the powdered sugar, mixing until everything is well combined.
  6. Gently fold in the whipped topping until the mixture is fluffy and smooth.
  7. Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over the cooled pretzel crust.
  8. In a separate bowl, stir the strawberry gelatin powder into the boiling water until dissolved. Add the cold water and mix well.
  9. Pour the sliced strawberries into the gelatin mixture and stir to combine. Pour this mixture over the cream cheese layer in the baking dish.
  10. Cover and refrigerate the dessert for at least 4 hours or until the gelatin is fully set.
  11. Once set, slice and serve chilled.

💡 Chef's Notes

Best served chilled after the gelatin has set.
