Ingredients

  • 12 large manicotti shells
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • to taste salt and pepper
  • 3 cups marinara sauce
  • for garnish fresh basil leaves

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook the manicotti shells according to package directions until al dente. Drain and set aside to cool slightly.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, half of the mozzarella cheese, Parmesan cheese, egg, garlic powder, dried basil, and oregano. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  4. Using a piping bag or a spoon, carefully fill each manicotti shell with the cheese mixture, ensuring they are filled generously.
  5. Spread 1 cup of marinara sauce evenly on the bottom of a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  6. Arrange the stuffed manicotti in a single layer on top of the marinara sauce.
  7. Pour the remaining marinara sauce over the stuffed manicotti, ensuring they are well covered.
  8. Sprinkle the remaining mozzarella cheese on top.
  9. Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes.
  10. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  11. Once baked, let the manicotti cool for a few minutes before serving.
  12. Garnish with fresh basil leaves for a pop of color and flavor.
