Ingredients

1 can of refrigerated biscuit dough (16 oz)

1 pound breakfast sausage (bulk or casing removed)

2 tablespoons unsalted butter

1/4 cup all-purpose flour

2 cups milk (whole or 2%)

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

1/4 cup chopped green onions (for garnish)

Optional: hot sauce for serving

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Begin by preheating your oven to 400°F (200°C).

Prepare the Biscuit Base: Open the can of biscuit dough and separate the biscuits. Flatten each biscuit slightly with your hands to form pizza crusts. Arrange them on a baking sheet, leaving a little space between each one.

Pre-Bake the Crusts: Bake the biscuit crusts in the preheated oven for about 8-10 minutes, or until they are golden brown and fluffy. Remove from the oven and set aside.

Cook the Sausage: In a large skillet over medium heat, add the breakfast sausage. Cook until browned and fully cooked through, breaking it up into small pieces with a spatula. Once cooked, transfer the sausage to a plate and drain excess grease, leaving about 1 tablespoon in the skillet.

Make the Gravy: In the same skillet, add butter and allow it to melt. Whisk in the flour, stirring for about 1-2 minutes until it bubbles and turns a light golden color. Gradually whisk in the milk until smooth. Add garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper. Continue to cook until the gravy thickens, about 5-7 minutes. Stir in the cooked sausage until well combined.

Assemble the Pizza: Spread a generous spoonful of sausage gravy over each biscuit crust. Make sure to cover the surface adequately but leave a small border for the crust.

Add Cheese: Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the top of the gravy on each biscuit.

Final Bake: Return the assembled breakfast pizzas to the oven and bake for an additional 5-7 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Serve: Once done, remove from the oven and let cool for a minute. Garnish with chopped green onions and drizzle with hot sauce if desired.
