Ingredients

4 large croissants, cut into cubes

6 large eggs

1 cup whole milk

1 cup shredded Gruyère cheese

1 cup cooked and crumbled breakfast sausage

1 cup baby spinach, chopped

1/2 cup cherry tomatoes, halved

1/4 teaspoon nutmeg

Salt and pepper to taste

Fresh chives, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a 9x13 inch casserole dish.

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, nutmeg, salt, and pepper until well combined.

Layer the diced croissants evenly at the bottom of the casserole dish.

Sprinkle half of the shredded Gruyère cheese over the croissants.

Spread the cooked sausage evenly over the cheese, then add the chopped spinach and halved cherry tomatoes.

Pour the egg mixture over the layered ingredients, ensuring everything is evenly covered.

Top with the remaining Gruyère cheese.

Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes.

After 30 minutes, remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the egg is set.

Let the strata cool for a few minutes before slicing. Garnish with chopped chives before serving.
